At our school, we believe education is about more than achievement in Reading, Writing and Mathematics. It is also about developing the skills, attitudes, and behaviours that help our young people thrive — both now and in the future.
Our Learner Dispositions describe the qualities we intentionally grow in our tamariki. These include attributes such as resilience, inclusion, responsibility, and innovation. They reflect the kind of students - great humans — we aspire to nurture.
We are sharing our Learner Disposition rubrics with you because:
Clarity builds consistency. When students, teachers, and whānau share a common understanding of what these dispositions look like in action, we can work together to strengthen them and support our students as they continue to develop these.
Learning is visible. The rubrics help make behaviours and habits of mind explicit, so students can reflect on their growth and set meaningful goals.
Partnership matters. By sharing this language with whānau, we invite you into the learning journey. The same dispositions we value at school can be reinforced at home and in the wider community.
Preparation for the future. Academic knowledge is important, but success in secondary school, tertiary study, and the workplace also relies on persistence, adaptability, communication, and responsibility.
Students will use these rubrics to:
Reflect on their progress
Set personal goals
Understand school and studio expectations clearly
Celebrate growth beyond academic results
Our aim is to empower learners to take ownership of who they are becoming — not just what they know.
Together, as a community, we are growing confident, capable, and connected young people.
