School Contributions:
We ask all those in our school community to make a contribution to help us deliver the opportunities that we believe all our students deserve.
WHY DO WE ASK FOR CONTRIBUTIONS?
Our government operational grant aims to provide a solid basic education for all of our students. However, it does not cover the cost of providing the broader, richer programme of learning that offers our students opportunities, resources and an overall education that goes beyond the basics. With an Equity Index of 380 our Government funding is considerably less than a higher Equity Index school receives (in fact it is $1/student that we receive). We hope this information helps you to understand just how important your contribution is.
Your Contributions help to provide additional staffing, learning support and resources, as well as capital works items such as more shade sails, outdoor seating, landscaping and playgrounds (Mrs Kidd is really passionate about a Ninja Warrior course being installed, unfortunately this is estimated at $130,000). These all require additional funds that we need to raise by other means. This is achieved primarily through donations, as well as other fundraising initiatives through our wonderful FoHPS group (who are always looking for people to help out, offer ideas, etc.) and hireage of our school hall, Library and Steam space to outside providers such as Counties Kidz and Bricks4Kids.
RECOGNISING DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES
If your family finds the level of requested contribution difficult, we understand this and would appreciate any amount you feel you can afford. You can make your contributions each term, paying $50 each term can make this much easier for families.
Equally, your contribution isn’t limited to the amount suggested and any additional donation is much appreciated, as this further enhances the learning opportunities and school experience for our students! We have set up another option 'Generous Donations' if you would like to contribute more.
Your financial support is a valuable contribution to our ability to offer a rich programme with strong achievement outcomes that encourage a love of learning for all our children and we can’t emphasise enough the important difference that your school contributions make to what our school is able to offer.
HOW CAN WE CONTRIBUTE?
The amount requested at Hingaia Peninsula school is $200 per student/year.
The easiest way is to make payment through our online shop - payment portal, Kindo. Alternatively please ask at the office for an invoice and bank account details.
Thank you for your contribution to making learning awesome at HPS!
We make sure that every dollar makes a real difference to our students!
School Uniform:
Our Uniform is supplied by The Uniform Shoppe in Papakura. They have our full range of uniform.
Our uniform has a range of items that students can select from - for example girls can choose to wear a skort or shorts or cargo pants, we have Blue and Black school t-shirts and the option of a school polo shirt. We intend to add further items such as a long sleeve t-shirt and a sweatshirt (in the near future) to our uniform so that all students needs are catered for.
School Uniform Expectations:
At HPS we expect all of our students to wear our school uniform correctly and with pride, at all times.
This includes:
PLAIN BLACK shoes worn with PLAIN BLACK or PLAIN WHITE socks for Term 2 and 3 and of course plain black sandals for Term 1 and 4.
School hats are to be worn all of Term 1 and 4. They are not required in Term 2 or 3, please keep these in a safe place at home so that they are ready when they are needed.
Please ensure that any hair accessories (hair-ties, clips, headbands etc) are only in the school colours of blue, green, black or white or of course, your child’s natural hair colour is fine too.
Any hair that reaches the shoulders or hangs in front of the face, must be tied back.
No makeup or nail polish should be worn at school.
Jewellery should be limited to stud earrings, wristwatches and items worn for cultural/religious reasons.
Our Senior Students in Year 4-8 also need to ensure they have their PE gear in their bags for their allocated PE and Sports days (PE days will be communicated to you in your Termly Studio Newsletter). Please ensure that all items of school uniform are clearly named, so that they can be easily returned.
We do have some second hand uniform available - our Head Students run this, so please keep an eye out for their 'Shop' days in the Hero communication. If you have purchased pre-owned uniform, please put a line through any other names and re-name these items for your own child.
